Advanced Illustrator Training Dates

Who should attend?
This course is intended as a follow up to the introductory course. It is ideal for those wishing to develop their Illustrator skills further or improve the results of current projects. Also of great benefit to those who have used Illustrator without any structured training.

What are the course requirements?
Delegates should have a good understanding of the Mac OS. Whilst not essential, an ability to draw is a definite advantage!

Adobe Illustrator is the professional’s choice for producing vector based imagery. This course expands on the introductory course by giving in-depth demonstrations and hands on experience.

  • Advanced Illustrator - how advanced? Sample of work to awe and inspire
  • Using smart guides for speed and accuracy
  • Illustrator file formats, exporting and using Illustrator in other
    applications
  • Brushes and brush effects
  • Using Illustrator for sketching and free hand drawing
  • Live trace and the tracing tools
  • Live paint. New ways to illustrate
  • Using blend tools
  • How to use envelopes
  • When to use symbols for speed and efficiency
  • Using the symbol sprayer and symbol modifiers
  • Distortion tools
  • Appearance attributes, using styles and effects
  • The 3D tools, drawing and using perspective effects
  • Mesh objects for high-quality illustration
  • Turn 2D shapes into fully editable 3D objects by extruding and revolving paths. Add lighting and wrap images around 3D shapes to easily create objects such as packaging mock-ups
  • Much of this course is hands-on by the delegate with the tutor guiding. Delegates are encouraged to bring live issues that they have with them.
