Worle Community School chose the Apple platform to run a
combination of Mac OS X and Windows operating systems, in their
"Classroom For The Future". The school has their own
personalised start-up page, made possible by installing BootPicker,
which displays the option to use Mac OS X or Windows XP. The
dual boot configuration allows any student or teacher, to use any
software necessary to assist their learning.
As all staff and students are familiar with each operating system,
it fully empowers them to move forward their education and
progression into higher and further education, as well as
employment. Worle Community School has been an Apple Regional
Training Centre since 2008, and the training opportunities this
offers assists the school's Media Arts Specialist status as
well as actively infecting the local area with the benefits of the
Apple platform.
Delivering courses in a multitude of creative and artistic
areas, they provide regular courses for staff, students, and local
schools who would like to expand their knowledge and
experience in teaching and learning. Various courses are run
regularly and always have a strong curriculum based educational
bias, relevant across all Key Stages, at many levels of education.
Reaching primary and secondary schools, as well as SEN centres and
teachers in the local area is of key importance to the Worle
RTC.
